The last pig I got off this ranch was great but did not provide enough for a full load in the grinder. Also tonight my boy was with me. It was his first kill experience. Classic, we hiked the site, found the fresh sign, set up and after 20 min he's done. Says "I'm done", Ha Ha, I told him fine just lay there and wait till I'm ready. The wind is small gusts and I keep hearing things. Finally hear a snort I'm sure of. I stand to see over the vines, and glimpse a pig on the next knoll. Nothing to brace on, and I'm not sure of distance (first guess 125 yd), so I slide into the road prone, and get it in my scope. Perfect broadside, and I don't see any others, so I squeeze. Back on target and I have one down and a second standing 10 yds back, get on the second one, squeeze and all I see after I get back on if some dust. Hell I missed, the boy got excited when I told him I saw it, now after two shots he's bouncing, told him I got one. He's stoked. We walk up there and there are two pigs on the ground dead as dirt. I was so proud of the boy, he wasn't a bit squeamish, he held the light and the leg when I needed it, and helped me load them in the truck. Next time he gets to take one. Paced it off on the walk back to the truck and the close one was about 90, the second was 100yd. I love that about the 270, from 50-150 put the crosshairs dead on and squeeze.

Thanks guys, to top it off my Dad came up to assist with the butchering. It was a new experience for him, but he had a good time. All in all good times with family.

Nice pigs and congrats. I wish I found some pigs that needed to be depredated too. LOL But every time I go out to my spots close to home, no pig ever wants to come out and say hi to my 30.06. LOL
