Today SB89 was heard in the California Senate Committee of Natural Resources and Wildlife. This comittee is made up of Conservative hunters (Sen. Oller) and liberals I'd normally like to see unemployed. The committee voted 7-0 in favor of advancing the bill but not after making a point out of letting DFG and the CWA know everyone knows they are full of it on the ferret issue. I'm a pretty open minded fellow and certainly not anti DFG, but I have to say DFG blew it big in committe. They were chastised by a number of senators from the poltical spectrum. It is just so friggin' crazy and dishonest what DFG is doing and saying. CWAis just sucking up to have access to DFG and if you can believe this anti hunting group Defenders of Wildlife was siting at the table with CWA and DFG, again trying to gain access. The only reason ferrets aren't legal is because ferret owners haven't yet bought access to DFG like the conservation groups. Is this really the way government is supposed to work. If you think so will you feel the same way as more liberal groups have more access and the huning groups are the stepchild of DFG?
Please send an e-mail to your State Senator and ask them to support the bill. If you're Rep is a Republican they probably already support this bill. It's the Democrats we need to work on. Imagine that the progressive democratic party wanting to keep freedom limited.
Not Fish, Not Game, House pet. Let's keep DFG catching polluters not owners of a domestic pet that is legal from the artic to the Yukatan (excluding the Peoples Republic of California)
