Why can't that kind of thing ever happen to a hunter. If a pig showed up in my back yard, i'd never even bother with animal control. I'd just pull out my bow, let an arrow fly and fill out my pig tag and were you fill in for location of harvest, i'd put "my backyard" and mail it into DFG. I'm sure DFG would call or show up thinking it was a joke, so I suppose i'd video tape my "back yard hunt" too, lol. But of course it always happens to some hugger or anit-hunter and then AC gets involved and noone gets any of the dilicious meat.
