Congrats on a fine bull!

Are those FMJ's? What are your bow/arrow/broadhead specs?

Congrats! Great bull! Details? How many days into it did you get him? See many other bulls? Was it your first time hunting the area? Very envious since I have a work conflict and can't put my area 15 muzzleloader bull tag to use.

It was a tuff hunt due to all the rain we were getting most of the creeks were rivers and some were in passable so it limited the areas we could hunt. Finally on the 4th day we found some elk about 3-4miles back in an area that no one was hunting. The next morning we went in again and immediately got into elk. We chased the elk around till around 10:30 when the shut up. Rather then walk out and come back, we decided to wait it out. At around 330 we spotted some elk feeding about 100yds below the ridge and had a small 5point walk out at 65yds but he wasn't a shooter. Finally around 4pm my brother a few cow calls and a bull immediately responded about 300 yds below us and then another bull and then another. We finally have an idea where all the bulls were. So we set up and he kept calling not know if they were working there way up or not. After about 30min of calling and the bulls not getting any closer, I had my brother keep the elk talking while my dad and I tried to sneak in on them. As we get closer we can animal moving below us but they were kind of moving a way from us. We then immediately started side hilling to try and cut them off before they go over the ridge. As I get to the ridge it starts pouring rain and set up where I thought they would cross he bugles again and they beat me to the ridge and was now on the other side of the ridge, but now I was with-in 200 yds of the other two bulls that were bugling. As I start working my way towards the other bulls I see this calf working towards my brothers calls and she walks by at 7 yds has no idea Im there I was just hoping she wouldn't spoke and run towards the heard I was trying to sneak in on. As she passes I continue working towards the other bulls, when all of a sudden an elk bugles just 50yds from me and I can see his antlers working right towards me. So as soon as he walk behind these group of trees I draw and wait for him to walk out at around 12yds he starts to walk out and just as his neck gets past the tree he turns and starts right at me, I'm on my knees and he looks at me for a while then finally takes off I try and stop him but he never presents a shot. About 5 minutes later he bugles again but now he's on the opposite side of the ridge as I sneak down I can see about 20 of his cows off to the side and I see him towards the back, so I get to a spot where I can move and he cant see me and I rush in. As get to the last group of trees I step out and range him at 49 yds, I draw and settle my 50yd pin and wack, perfect shot. At this point its pouring rain still and I'm just hoping he dies quickly as I know it will be nearly impossible to follow blood. We wait about 25minutes and start following his tracks and find him laying only about 30yds from where I shot him. He was probably the 3rd biggest bull we saw, with the other two being 350 class bulls. I shoot a hoyt turbohawk 70lbs, 30in FMJ tipped with Shuttle T's. I switched this year from regular Easton's to the FMJ, because I didn't like the penetration I got last year on a bull in Idaho. This year the shot was about the same only the outcome much different. Like I mentioned above the shot was 49yds broadside, I hit center of a rib going in and the other rib going out. The broadhead just punched through the opposite rib and was just under the skin. Overall a Great hunt we had a total of 9 different bulls in bow range and numerous others that we see. Glad I got to spend it with my Dad and younger brother.
