well i finally got a call from my neighbor. we decided to meet up at 3:30 at the fence between our places. i leashed up four dogs and hit it. i met my buddie at the fence and let my two strike dogs off. besides my two strike dogs i also had one of my 8 month old pups and his mother{who hasnt been out in over 6 months}.this was the little guys second hunt. we started to head toward the big brush patch that the last 5 hunts have produced. its about fifty acres of the thick stuff. we decided to come in from the top, hoping that they would run the hog straight down to the creek. no sooner than we got to the top of the hill the dogs head straight into a tunnel. a couple of seconds go by and then...... YELP!GRUNT!BARK! game on!
as i reach the edge of the brush i look down towars the creek and i see two dogs blasting at mach 1. i turn out daisy so she can bring up the rear. before i could blink she was out of my sight. so we started humpin it in the direction of the dogs. after abou ten minutes i stopped to listen{and let my partner catch up}, nuthin no barking no squeallin. so we keep on keepin on just follwing the creek. about 20 min. later i hear a very faint bark and a squeel. time to pick up the pace.... and we were off again. we got within about 50 or so yrds from the fight and i turned out the pup{ 1/2 cat, 1/2 pit}. he dove down the bank and was on the hog in no time flat. we got a nice veiw of the action for about 5 minutes. the little guy actaully ripped the pigs right ear completly off! i made my way down the bank, under the trees and into the creek to finish off the pig. a quick one from my trusty 357 and GAME OVER! we pulled the 130# or so boar up the bank for a quick field dress and some pics. when we went back in the morning with the quads we dicovered that they ran this hog just under 4 miles befor we got ther. needless to say i was damn proud of all my dogs.
