Dove disease trichomoniasis

That bird may have eaten too many over-ripe mulberries, or it may have trichomoniasis, a parasite that affects its ability to eat and drink. The Missouri Department of Conservation is trying to find out if and how this disease is affecting the dove population.

"Infected doves may have difficulty flying, act listless and have swollen necks," biologist John Schulz said. "Anyone who sees mourning doves that fit this description should call me." His number is 573-882-9880, ext. 3218.

if i can be so  bold in answering for jesse......its not the same thing rabbits get.......the bunnies get tularemia which we could possibly get from cleaning an infected rabbit (use gloves to help prevent).....trichomoniasis is a protozoan  infection.....i dont know if you could get it from doves though.....but in humans a type of sexually transmitted disease is caused by trichomoniasis
