From this morning in the Cactus Garden area of Balboa Park. Got out for some hand held shutter snapping and critter approach practice. I managed to get within about 15 feet of this one by getting the camera ready from a distance then approaching slowly and stopping every few feet. Full optical zoom 380mm with Olympus C-730. 1/320, F4.5, ISO 100, A priority, +.7EC. Converted to greyscale in PSE2, then levels and USM. Uncropped. Elements frame.

Nice one Dan. You got the "light just right", with good composition, exposure and sharp focused bird. Was that at ISO 50?

WildBird,

The Dove Picture was taken about 25 Feet away Facing south approx 1 hour before Dusk on 10x Optical Zoom
2288x1712
F 3.7 1/10 0.0
WB Auto
ISO 200

pleased thus far with Oly 750. Only complaint is indoor Focus, hard to get a focused lock in auto mode... Outddor VERY FAST and efficient in doing this under all light conditions I have seen thus far.

Dan - That's great at ISO 200. Tip for indoor focus: use a small flashlight on the desired focus point, then hold the half press and turn off the light then shoot. Or - zoom in tight and focus, half press and zoom out then shoot. The focus system on these C series seems strange at first but once you get the hang of it the system works well.

Leo - Only the police now ride horses in the park. The bridle trails are still there though and are used by walkers, joggers and mountain bikers. I guess your grandfather must have told you about the horses, right?

I went to San Diego area in 56, left in 80.

Ues to live on the outskirts of Chula Vista, off Telegraph Canyon rd, well it was the "outskirts" then.

The Bridle Paths in the park were a great place for a youngman to do a little "dear" hunting back then

Thats funny!!! My father-in-law proposed to his wife on "suicide bridge". Guess he really took the plunge.

Just think what that house on the outskirts would sell for now. $$$$$$$
