Mike_cook82 Check out area 10 if they open it for you. I was there for 450 cow hunt there was an awesome bull with his harem of about 25 cows. they were hanging around 10 off of Jolon rd across from the north end of 13E. He was the biggest bull I seen there in 9 days of hunting.

TA 10 is normally rifle, however if there is training going on in an adjacent area they will oftern restrict what are normally rifle areas to muzzle loader/archery only. Since the hunt is on both weekdays and weeknd, you can expect the areas open to hunt and weapons allowed in specific areas to change from day to day based on what training or range maintenance is going on in specific areas. They will limit access to the TAs that normally contain elk to elk hunters only so you won't have pig and bird hunters blowing a stalk for you. The orientation meeting the day before the season opens is very informative if you haven't hunted FHL before and should answer a lot of your questions.

There was no training last year when I went, the entire base was pretty much shutdown. We stayed at Gibb hall, but had to drive into King City to eat every night, the pretty much closed up shop for the holidays. Gas station wasn't even open.
