Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I drew an X9B tag this year, and even though I'm planning to hunt solo, my family would prefer that I go with someone. As of right now, I am already planning a solo hunt for the first week of the season. I am going to give this hunt everything I got, but I do not think I can dedicate every weekend of the season to it, as I have a family and a crazy work schedule. As of right now, I am still working out locations, areas to park, areas to scout, areas to camp, etc...but I am convinced that I would like to park my jeep somewhere to use as a potential base Camp, but I want to pack in at high altitude, get away from people, rough it for 3-5 days in a spike camp deep in the backcountry and hunt the crap out of the area.

I do not have any hunting experience in X9B, but I am somewhat familiar with the area. I am exploring the possibility of partnering up with someone else that has that tag, and pooling our resources to accomplish the same goal. 2 heads are better than 1 right?? Again, this is just a possibility, it would need to be the right person.....

My general plan, is PMing first then talking on the phone. If all is well, meet up over beers, discuss options, come up with a plan then execute. I'm planning on heading up there in the next 4-6 weeks and scouting the area, maybe a 3 day weekend. I would also like to stash water and other supplies and set up trail cameras if I find a good area.

I need someone that is willing to pull their weight. You have to be motivated and willing to put in the miles and the work. Good boots, good pack and efficient layers are a must. This person can't be finicky with being in the backcountry for days. I do not want to be stuck out there with someone that will complain constantly, or try to tap out early. I get it, its easy to be homesick, or miss your family, but I take care of my family year round, so they are willing to let me take off for a week to get this done, I need that same mentality in a hunting partner. This person needs to share all of the responsibilities, gas, food, research, any prep work needed to get this done. If someone is down for this, then I am down for this.

You don't have to be a gear junky, but at least have the essentials. Have good boots, have a good pack. Be prepared and pack right, anticipate every situation and pack accordingly. I have extra clothing that i can lend if the size is right, I also have extra tent, sleeping pad, and other gear if needed. I am happy to share gear and help however I can. But I expect that this hunting partner be 100% committed to this arrangement and not bail out, flake at the last minute and cancel, forget things, tap out early. They need to be willing to take off of work if necessary to make this happen. unfortunately, I do not have a buddy or family member that will be available during that time, so if you have a X9B tag, are a resourceful person, and are willing to put in hard work then lets make it happen!!!!

PM me if you are interested. Thanks guys.

To bad there’s not a hunting partner combine. “Damn it canam, I told you not to bring those socks, they have to much polyester”
“I’m going home” “Good, I noticed you got tired scaling that rock wall, pussy”.

Great idea to have the right hunting partner. I’ve taken unprepared , under motivated pe in the backcountry. It can be a hazard to you and them. I don’t know how easy it will be to find that person but I wish you the best. I did mount whitney in my youth and can tell you that is goat country. It’s obvious there are some big boys up there from the g3 pictures I’ve seen . Good luck

Thank you for that. I realize that my request may seem unusual or unrealistic. X9B has a small quota, I'm basically looking for a needle in a haystack, but I'm hopeful

It will be a hell of an adventure. I’ve done several long solo back pack hunting trips I enjoyed going with one or two family and friends the most We typically hunted alone but met up at camp.later. Which is my preferred method . I did a couple trips with others that I didn’t know as well. Mixed reviews on that. To make a long story short. If you go alone every cell in your body will be truly alive . It has to be. Every step you take could be tragic.very light sleeping at night . Every noise is a potential predator. . Without being to overly dramatic it’s a pretty awaking experience. Wish I was still up for that lol. I prefer a boujee lodge now hahaha. I would suggest a quality emergency satellite device. A great hunt plan with loved ones . Can satellite text pretty easy to keep Peeps posted if you go alone . So the short of it was I prefer a great companion who is up to the task yet I chose to go alone rather than go with someone not up to it or someone annoying 😂 plan well and go for it.

Would be nice for people to follow up after their hunts . It’s rare tho. I just like to hear the stories. Or lessons learned? Not that much to be learned from a zone or area by internet scouting. Boots on the ground is the only way .

X9B looks like an awesome unit to hunt if you have pack stock to get into the high country. If I had stock I would hunt bear up there.

It is some truly rough backcountry . I’ve camped and fished in the area for many years , Other than climbing Whitney in my 20’s I’ve never gone truly back in there.i Just stare up into that now , them days are gone! Has obvious potential for a nice buck!
