New to the area and just wondering what types of ducks are know to fly in the area of Owens Valley.
Came from Oklahoma and all I have are Mallards and Woodduck decoys. Lol might need to buy some different breeds.
Thanks! 🦆🦆

Have spent some time in the owens. Mostly fishing Have seen mallards teal and gadwalls most often. Along with a fair amount of diver ducks. Ringbills ruddy bufflehead . Californias Central Valley is where many of us primarily hunt ducks . True mixed bag of every kinda duck. We wish we had more mallards. Lol

Nice. That’s the one refuge I have not hunted. Good luck. It seems to be shooting better than others. We call this month slowvember. But any given Wednesday or Saturday and here can produce getting close to December. Teal , widgeon , gadwall mallard pintail and some undisclosed confidence decoys is what I run. Usually a jerk string if calm. Every body runs 2 mojo spinning wing style dekes after November 30. I bring one and get creative how I us it . Our refuge system is great. We are lucky to have the access and great ducking if you put in the effort and learn some places !! Good luck to you this season. . I have a good rese around the same date. I’ll be goin, I keep my expectations realistic and always have a good time

Last question…so I have #8 resi. Does that mean I go to blind 8 or I’m the 8th person to enter and I pick the blind I want to hunt from?

Some advice if you have not hunted a type A . Is to follow all the access ,license, day passes ,entry times ,etc etc. pertaining to the refuge you’re going to hunt . Each is different. Not sure your experience level hunting these refuges? The info is available but I’ve seen people show up and not have everything they need to get in. Makes for a bad time

First time hunting these refuges and I’ve been doing so much research since I’m 2.5 hrs away from Kern. I scouted the place before I got the resi
But had no idea how the process worked.
