That is one lucky boy... not lucky because of his hunting accomplishments and trophies, but to have you there to introduce him and teach him right!

School is critical, as formal education is going to be more and more important to success in the changing economy, but missing a few days here and there to learn lessons that no classroom will ever teach, that's more valuable than most school administrators and bureaucrats will ever understand.

Congrats to both of you!

I really miss hunting with my Dad. I wish he could have made a few trips with me when I lived in Alaska, but he passed at a young age and it never happened. You've schooled your boy very well and he and you have some great memories. Plus you both are young and have more coming over the years. Great job.

Congratulations to the both of you on some awsome hunts. I am looking forward to getting my kids out in the woods and teaching them as well. For not being in as good of shape as your son you must be doing something to be able to carry out two hind quarters and the backstraps in one trip. How far did you have to carry the load? I have carried two hind quarters of a cow elk about 1.5 miles and I felt several inches shorter at the end of the trip. Great job again and I am sure we will hear of more hunting exploits from your son in the future.

Great job! The kid really is getting into some good animals, nice Bull and a very nice CA Mule Deer! He is one lucky youngster to have such a great Dad to introduce him to hunting.

Elkbuster---thanks for sharing. Those are some awesome animals and some great memories you and your son are making for sure. I am 33 and have a bunch of memories of some good hunts with my dad--most of which never included bagging an animal.

If you don't mind my asking, was your son's mule deer photo taken during the junior Round Valley hunt?

Congrats! Idaho is a great place to live - and it's growing. What part do you suspect you'll be put at?
