Have been seeing a ton lately and finally got to snap some pictures. There not the best of quality, he was about 100 yards and I jumped out of the truck while driving down the dirt road.

Mike, that first image looks great! Do you have a larger version? What are you shooting with?

That's as big as "I" can get it without being to grainy. If someone wants to play with the original picture I can email it to you.

Good job, birds in flight are tough to get and a bald eagle to boot, I have never seen an Bald eagle in the wild, just not real common here in arizona.

Nice capture Mike for having to stop and jump out of the truck. You should be able to scout around and find their nests and then be able to set up for some shots. I tried this very thing last winter near Truman Lake (an hour and half drive). In being unfamilliar with this subject I only was able to get some really long shots. But now that I know their nesting areas I should be able to setup for some shots (just need to get down there). See if you can do some scouting and then get closer. Thanks for sharing.

Just tread lightly around their nests. Eagles are very sensitive about their nesting areas - especially at certain times of the year. And I think this may be around one of those times. I saw a table somwhere that suggested good and bad times to put pressure on eagles. I'll see if I can find it.

Eagles are awesome to watch. Have quite a few around Missouri now days. Check out the following link on one that was caught in a game trap in northern Mo. recently. Most people don't realize that they are as big as this.

I found the eagle sensitivity chart. It's for Washington State and the time frames vary by area but generally speaking, the farther North, the later the nesting, the farther South, the earlier the nesting.

There's also a very informative site where this chart came from.

I took a drive out to the country last weekend(while I'm here in Utah) and found some Bald Eagles feeding on a carcass. Got a couple pics, but couldn't get real close. I'm gonna head back out there this weekend and see what I can find. Pics will have to wait till I get back home, sometime in February.
