A friend of mine was drawn for the muzzleloader pig hunt this past monday and tuesday at East Park Reservoir. Saw some elk, lots of deer and no pigs. He was told that the pigs were probably run off because of the rutting elk and the elk hunt that had recently taken place. Very little sign and that was old. Nice looking country he said. The DFG folks were great and helpfull he said. He came home Monday night though. Didn't figure it was any use hunting it on Tuesday.

That's what happened to us at the North Chimineas draw. I haven't seen a pig yet from a draw through DFG.

The pigs are at East Park. See them all the time. They just aren't in the limited hunting area all the time. The wife and I have had to honk at them to get them out of the road on the South end of the lake more than once on our way into Stonyford.

We have to draw because of its limited access restriction. I don't think you all would want to see 150 other guys (typical number of applicants) out there on only 1200 acres. Maybe I'm wrong though...

It would be nice if this was a Muzzleloader or Shotgun w/slug hunt, then I wouldn't worry about getting drawn, I'd have to go buy a New Gun!!

I've heard there's a ranch on the East side of East Park Res that does a lot of pig hunting. Any chance they've made a dent on the population?

Possibly, but doubtful. We've been seeing the pigs more in the past week, so we know they're still there.

I think WU Hill Ranch is not far from there. But WU may have push the pigs to East Park or Stony Gorge instead of putting a dent on them.

It is more a matter them just happening to enter the hunt zone then whether there are pigs there or not. DFWG knows where they are they may not want the main area hunted to keep the population up.
