I'n many States all you have to do is call the local sheriff and he will come out and put a tag on the deer that just put a hurt on your truck. Seems to make sense.
Not in California...............it's illegal.

I believe in Alaska if you hit an animal you are required to call it in so that it can be donted to te shelters.

X2 in that the meat is not going to waste. I will add that the guy or gal driving the truck should have first dibs. A venison taco is ever so sweet when you know it is offsetting the cost of vehicle repair or higher insurance rates.

I've done it quite a bit. It's legal in GA. I think Dad was the bigger obstacle when it was just me and him living together. "Son, when you put this stuff up in the freezer .... don't label it road kill, OK?"
