A couple of years back while in Wyoming, to my surprise there were a lot of moose in the area but no elk. This was in the middle of November, in an area where elk are usually present. I came across several moose over the course of an entire week; even had some encounters as close as 20 yards, but I never saw elk.

I have the feeling that elk move out when moose are in the area. Is that a reasonable conclusion or just coincidence? If this is true, it sure would increase success of an elk hunt by choosing to hunt a different area when moose are sighted.

I've posted this question before but received mixed feedback: http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/elk-hunting/168174-when-moose-present-during-elk-hunt.html

Any experts out there? DFGELK?

Regards
