Elk broadheads

I do not understand why in the heck expandables are not allowed in Idaho yet they are allowed in California. This is not 1982 with the first versions of expandables. I still make more accurate shots with expandables than with fixed.
Why are they hesitant to allow them???????????????????????????????

Ive seen several mechanicals both work great at times
and fail miserably at times

Id bet its just a C.Y.A. attitude on the game departments part on the subject just because they have also seen mechanicals fail, and a good cut on contact broad head is a KNOWN and PROVEN system that works almost FLAWLESSLY
when its used correctly

while a mechanical that failed to open would be little better than a field tip,
and the LAST thing any game department needs is a bunch of tree huggers with a documentation and pictures of a deer wandering around with a arrow stuck in it raising bad PR like the PARK DUCKS you sometimes see on the news some MORON shot with a field tip arrow

a good cut on contact head will lower the odds of that ever happening SHARPLY, as its certainly more difficult to pass a sharp cut on contact broad head thru a deer/elk vital organs without causeing a blood trail and a good chance of killing the game VS a mechanical that failed to open and the damage it might do

This could be good...........I often wonder myself and really like my Rockets! I've never had a problem tuning and shooting broadheads and like the way certain Mech's perform.....

As 340 said, it could be a CYA for some, but I think it comes down to bad press when they first hit the market....

I'm on the ropes with AZ just around the corner

It's either going to be the Steelheads or Ultimate Steel's....I did just order some of the Stingers to see

what they can do.....Good luck and if you're looking for a 'bullet' shooting fixed blade which is easy to tune, try the Rocket Ultimate Steel.......

it matters little what broad head you choose if you can,t hit the game correctly!
Ive found these two blade broad heads below shoot flat and accurately, and are easy to sharpen to a razor edge

IVE used ALL of these, pictured ,they all work but the TOP one seems to be the best value, (both the least expensive and most accurate)and it gets the most pass thru,s, in all cases its shot placement that counts most, Ive seen no indication that the two blades kill any slower than the three blade broad heads if the shots placed correctly, in fact from the admittedly limited testing IVE had on deer and ELk (under a dozen combined, so its not proof only what IVE seen) the two blades seem better! (I use an 80 lb jennings unistar bow with 32.5" carbon arrows and a 31.5" draw)
