I read on one of the subject matters, that one guy got drawn for elk and is applying again. I've been applying for 20 years and yet to draw in my own town.
got drawn for antlope near goose lake took a decent buck, but my point is this don't you think that elk should be put in the same system as the antalope hunts, once you've drawn you should have to wait a few years or so maybe three, just to even up the odds for poor folk with no luck at all like myselfe, the system sucks.
I think an elk hunt would be considered a once in a lifetime hunt rather then an antalope hunt you can get antalope tags over the counter in some other states..?

Manny   You can buy Elk tags over the counter in some states also but I know what you mean. I have never been drawn for Elk here in CA, I was drawn for antelope after 25 years. I will probably never get another antelope in CA but it is only fair that every one else get a chance too. I agree that some new system should be put in place for Elk. Maybe bonus points.                Fubar

Maine has a lottery for Moose. I have never been drawn in the 20 plus years that we have had a moose season.  They recently went to a point system, for previous years entries. We have a 5:00 application fee and you can put in up to 6 times.  If you skip a year with out applying, you loose your bonus points.  Some year I'll get lucky.
