hi everyone, my boys and i were drawn for a bull hunt in the fossil unit and was wondering if anyone could help us oput with a area to start looking at to hunt on public land. thanks for any info, hank

Get a BLM map and look for an accessable tract. There may be some National Forest to the east of the unit. With 14% public land, what public land there is will be crowded. Smoozing, buying, or bribing your way onto a ranch with elk is a better option.

There are elk taken off of Sutton Mt. every year, but it is hit or miss. If you check out the area you will see why.

hi orarcher, sutton mtn. is where were looking. i talked to a biologist he said there were some elk there but when they start getting pressure they head for the private around the bottom of the hill. and i know there is only foot access. and the biologist said it wasn't traditional elk terrain more sage and juniper. thanks for the reply archer. hank
