O.K. For the SERIOUS ONLY; Ol' Griz is going Elk Hunting 100000% during the 2nd. Rifle Season in Colorado. Over the counter tags for non-residence is $554 Bull and $354 for Cow Only. Dates are Oct. 22-30th. Yes, 9 great days camping at around 9000' elevation. Not quite sure which days I will be there as I can only be off Saturday to following Sunday! Anyway, I have room for 3 more in my 12x14 Wall Tent. (You will have to have a Hunter Safety Card no matter what age, if I'm not mistaken)
All I ask is for the serious to pay $50 for use of tent, extra food I provide, coffee, ear plugs(snoring noises) & camp expertise: Wall tent, wood stove, water, outside makeshift outhouse, cooking supplies! (Will not have to pay until day we are leaving!)
You will need cot, sleeping bag, warm clothes and few survival supplies. (In case of severe overnight storm)
No cry babies about cigar smoke around campfire, no Bragging about what you do for a living or how much $$$$ you make. Very limited cell phone usage up there, due to no signal in some areas.
Why am I announcing this so early?
It takes a lot of time to build up the hype of your first Rocky Mountain Elk Hunt. Yes, I've been going for years with success. Success is the thrill of the Hunt and Campfire stories. I enjoy seeing people who have never heard an Elk bugle. It will be the memory of a lifetime.
Mapquest directions to New Castle, Colorado. We will get off at exit 105 and take Buford/New Castle road up to Meadow Lake or Triangle Park--(Unit #33) Depending on amount of snow. Will be hunting the Flat Tops White River National Forest area. Units 23 & 33 are basically right across the road from each other in areas. Ranges 8500-10,500 ft. elevation. Some knicknames where will will hunt--GRAVEL PIT, CATTLE CROSSING, CORRAL, CLARKS RIDGE, CLIFFS, MEADOW LAKE, SPRING CAMP, DEEP CREEK, ELK CREEK
You can buy mule deer buck tags for unit 23 OVER THE COUNTER. I've never been turned down for those, always plenty left over.
Look forward to hearing from you guys.
((((I will have room for one in my 4 wheel drive with us splitting the gas$$$. Also, hunt exact dates as we get closer. Of course, you can always stay in your own tents and camp near us)))))))))))
