Just burning the time to leave this place. Although this county want to depart from Sacramento and become Jefferson state won't happen for awhile if it does I don't want to wait that long. Darn 1031 exchange.

I hear ya Huntr Pat I'm wanting the state to split also but I don't think it will happen in my life time or ever for that matter. So with my middle child graduating from 8th grade and my youngest just getting starting in school next summer is about as good as timing as I can get at least as for as moving the kiddos. So..... Until then I patiently wait and look for houses/Jobs

Yes I talked to a fish and game friend of mine who informed me not to try and bring a wolf hide back because wolves have the same classification as mountain lions. No part or piece may enter the state period.

How would they know?

And remember, fish and game employees don't know everything, actually very little in reality.

You could find a fur buyer and get a nice chunk of change to help pay for some of the trip.
Assuming your going in the fall so the fur should be prime, try and hit em low in the chest if you can.

How would they know? Well... if one was to get a nice full length hide to hang on the wall made out of state like right there in idaho.... And brought back in a duffle bag or suitcase I guess they would never know...... Wink wink. Only problem with that is this hunter has F&G friends who do come over every now and then. That would be a little tough to explain.

I am a 6th generation Californian ....pre- gold rush , descendent of William Knight , founder of Knight's Landing / Knight's Ferry ...... blahh blahh blahhh...... I never thought that I would even think about leaving the state that I love . The liberals running the DFG and the ones now in FULL control of Sacramento are on the verge of driving out one of the few native Californians.....Me.
I know that this does relate to this thread.... but it really does .

BOW I know exactly what you're talking about I am native Californian. My family came out here out of the dust bowl from Oklahoma. It will break my heart in a way to leave the area I've hunted in or been with my dad hunting since I was small enough for him to button into his jacket so I wouldn't get cold while he was duck hunting. Honestly I'm looking at moving to Idaho or Alaska. With the hunting/fishing/outdoor anything in those states I can't honestly say I'd come back here to hunt or anything other than visiting family. It's sad the direction things are going.

Jake, the prices to hunt here is double than anywhere I know. retired military I cant afford this place. I'll just keep the Tacoma running because its cheaper than buying a new one for hunting and its get me everywhere.

Jake, Btw unit 10 is way the heck up on the east side bordering Montana and the wolf Population is crazy The are wreaking havoc on the game population. The Elk hardly answer to calls because of the wolves.

Thank you for your service sir. I hope you're enjoying retired life.

I still drive my 2001 Ford f250 with a 6 speed and the old 7.3 diesel. It has 275000 miles on it and I still load it down with gear and a trailer of some sort and off I go. I can't afford a new one so I keep using my old trusty.

Yep my cousin has said that. If and that's a big IF you hear one bugle it's in the middle of the night. He also said you almost never see them feeding out in the meadows anymore. But he said they have changed the way they hunt them and they are still somewhat successful. I trust him, with 40 years hunting in the same general drainage. I should also mention we are going over for the general rifle season so bugling is over by then.

Hey Jake you are in my neck of the woods . Do you do B zone ? I have 2 tags for it again this year . Is there any access to the 7 lakes area for duck hunting ? By the Redding gun club ? Maybe if you are a member ? Curious.
We have been chasing Kokanee at Trinity and Whiskeytown until now ...... I'm trying to gear up for Bow season now .

Maybe we will cross paths some time !

BOW yes I B zone hunt I go back home and hunt with family up on the Klamath River.

I live a stones throw from 7 lakes. As far as I know that is all private property and there is no access. I do know people who have permission to hunt that but I wouldn't know who to contact to get permission. I haven't fished or archery hunted in a while mainly because I haven't had the time. I've got 3 kiddos who keep me hopping.

Heck yeah it would be great if we crossed paths hopefully one day.

Well today is the day. All I have to do is get through my work day and we are off. We will be catching the last 7 days of the season. 3 of us are going with 2 tag my daughter is going to tag along and experience her first out of state hunt. It should be fun. I'll let you all know how things went when we get back.
