I'm looking for a jeweler who makes elk ivory stuff. I'd like to have the whistlers from my bull set, and would prefer to have it done by someone in CA if possible.

Have any of you guys dealt with anyone who works with ivories?

I had earrings & a ring made for my wife. Scott Simonian of Simonian Jewelers in Fresno, did the work, & he did an excellent job. His office is on Shaw Ave.

Hey, WW.

I've seen that website, and didn't realize it was you.

I'll drop you an Email. It'd be cool to send my business to a JHO member.

The elk ivory (aka, whistlers) is located in the upper jaw of the elk. I believe they are remnants from the past evolutionary stages where they actually had tusks protruding from their upper jaws.

If I'm not mistaken, whistlers are from cow elk and buglers are from bulls. I had a friend that used to work for Landstroms set a pair of buglers in a bolo tie and a hat pin in Black Hills Gold. I really treasure them as he's passed away.

It's my understanding that only two animals in North America have ivory. Elk and Walrus.
