AS - I love that photo of us with my hog and the dogs. Great times!!

Ya know, hunting with Dolly (and then later with Sparky and Trixy) off and on for the last two years has been my first experience with hog dogs. These last couple of years have been some of the best times I've had hunting and Dolly is a huge part of what has made it great.

I just got back late last night from an elk hunt in NM. This is the first post I read on the site, I was checking to see how you all did last weekend. What a horrible way to catch up on things.

Chopper, I'm sorry to hear about Dolly, she was a great pooch and one hell of a pig tracker/hunter. I'll definitely miss her next time I come down to hunt your place!!

I was rooting through some pics today and saw this one that I don't think I ever posted. Kirk, this one was from the morning after we got my hog.

Sorry for your loss. Not trying to be callous but what were the injuries that killed her?

Ok I think I am ready for this one
The wound was a single puncture to the neck, after tracking the hog the next morning it was evident she would have not made it!

I have chased her ass all over those mountains and loved ever step I followed, but I was not present that night as i was told I was lucky, maybe I am because all my memories are all happy ones!!

Wow. My uncle lost a couple good dogs that way. Just out of curiosity, are broadheads hanging out of the pig ever a danger to the dogs when they track pigs on archery hunts?

I'm sure that could come into play, but not the case here...it was a clean pass thru. I see an issue w/ broadheads more when cleaning/gutting the hog, Bigtusker (chopper) unfortunately found a broadhead of mine once with his finger on a nice boar.

BDB, thanks for posting that picture up....first time i've seen that one.

I want to thank all of you for the kind words. It has been a rough week since the incident. Kirk, dont blame yourself for anything that happened that day. Dolly was just doing what she loved. She was a great dog and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. If any of you have photos of her, please email them to me.

Thanks,
Chopper
