Your'e not wrong there. I guess I was getting alittle bit in a hurry since I posted at 4:05 and my van leaves my office at close to the same time. We probably won't even hit that exact spot due to some last year scouting and the bulls we managed to get on video last year. I recieved those elk pics yesterday morning from a coworker. I thought you might all enjoy them as much as I did.

I would have to very much agree with you. Love seeing great bulls but not in a sub division...

WOW Those are some amazing pics and like speck if I saw that in the front yard I too would have had to change my shorts... that and blame the rest on the dog!

I had a similar situation this week, when 15 bulls came thru our subdivision just outside GTNP. They have figured out that they don't get harrased or hunted and it is safer to hang out in irrigated yards than in the high country. I wasn't able to get a good picture of them, but when I do I'll post it up, one guy is at least 7x7 and in the 350+ range.

Very cool pics. Thanks for sharing. It's strange not seeing them in an Alpine meadow, or nestled in the pines. My brother used to send pictures of moose all of the time in his front yard in Alaska. He even has one of a large bull moose looking through his window.

On the suburban elk. Years ago, before I started hunting, a friend of a friend drew an elk tag for Owens valley. I think he lived in Big Pine or Bishop outskirts. Anyway, he felt kinda dissatisfied filling it apparently cause they stayed on his property like that guys yard. Kinda takes the thrill and challenge out of the hunt to wake up, roll over, open the window and put down your trophy before you have your morning cup of coffee.

Regardless, its simply amazing how large those animals are. Last year I had a cow elk jump me while I was looking for pig out in Carrizo. She was about 15 yards away when I caught a huge mass out of the corner of my eye. She had popped up out of a small drainage. It was humbling to be so close and feel so small.

Hey Superduty, great pics! Thanks for sharing! I'd follow those elk right back into their territory in hopes it was in hunting land then bag one. I hope all is well with you these days.

BPenn: I had a similiar experience with giant cow elk. I was tucked into some tree's at the Tejon ranch looking over a watering hole with a buddy of mine. As we sat there, I had the strangest feeling that someone or something was watching us. Finally I decided to turn around, and as I did, there standing behind us was a cow elk no more the 5 yards from us. I hit my freind and had him turn just in time to get a good look at her. At that moment, having smelled us, she blew a big 'ol load of snot through her nostrils! It was an awesome sight.
