Hello from San Diego county, I heard that there are some wild boards in San Diego county. Any one knows if this is true? Are they legal game to hunt?:hog chewing:

The pine boards are very aggresive!

I'll bite. Yes there are some wild hogs in the county, however be prepared to wear out several pairs of hunting boots before your likely to even see one. There have been a few threads here about them if your interested in following-up.

Oh, I dunno, I find pine to be rather abundant and a real softy to bring to the light of day. Them pesky wild oaks on the other hand take some real manpower and big guns to bring home the bacon.

They are there and they stay tight to cover, private lands, and on the Indian Reservations. If you want to see one, just get a boat and go the the back of El Capitan Resivor. They are building in numbers but I wouldn't count on finding one that EZ. I used to carry a pig tag when hunting just in case I ran into one when I lived down there. SO far I've ran into feral goats, mt. lions, lost and thirsty illegals but no pigs.

Hmm, wild trees maybe, but wild boards not so much . Wish I could be more help, don't know the area too well.

Haha so when you go hunting, you might better off carrying some extra water bottles rather than a pig tag. Sounds like you're more likely to run into a thirsty immigrant making the voyage from Mexico.

Seems like there are pigs out there but not in large numbers, what's good about them is that they divide very quickly so maybe in two more seasons we will be seeing some good bacon out there.

I have devoted some quality time looking for the ever elusive wild hogs/pigs of San Diego County. I haven't bagged one yet. The closest I have come to seeing them was finding fresh rooting and other signs. Feels like chasing a ghost. Maybe you'll have better luck patterning them or hunting them down. The best signs I've found were in the Descanso area and you'll going to need to waaaaaaalk bro. But hey, I ain't got one yet, so I don't have too much room to talk.

Well I will get a Porky tag just in case one is crossing the front of the barrel of my 30-06. If I get one I'll post pictures.

There was a news story on the local NBC station tonight reporting that 30 feral hogs were just trapped, all at the same time, out by Warner Springs. They reported it as being on land managed by the Vallecitos water district. I tried to find the story on NBC's website but they haven't posted it yet. The person interviewed from the water district said they are seeing a rise in the pig number of pigs in that area. I'm hoping someone else on here saw the same story and can add more information.

Good post Animaltracker. Thanks for sharing. I think the ones you referenced were trapped in the spring (I believe March) by the USDA. I've been close to having an opportunity but they are sneaky. Scouted near that area a few weeks ago and didn't see recent signs.

Thanks for setting me straight Portuguese Pointer, you are correct, the pigs were trapped in March of this year. NBC finally posted the story on their website and I was able to confirm. Also, it was on Vista Water District managed land not the Vallecitos Water District.
