Well Dad and I headed to FHL for the first time just to hunt a little and check out the land. We werent to sure where to go, so we asked the guy at the check-in hunt and he said all the good areas were closed due to the up coming elk hunt. So we hunted 7, not very much sign in 7 right now but we did manage to see about 30 pigs on the other side of the fence. We hunted 7 till about 1ish and headed back to the hut to change units. Being that this was our first trip we just wanted to check out another unit. So we signed up for 6, but before we could get out there we were flagged down by a police officer who had a fellow hunter in his vehicle that had gotten stuck. They asked if I'd be willing to try and pull him out, so I headed to unit 19 to help. The truck was stuck bad, but with alittle work the diesel truck got him out, however in the process I broke my tie-rod, so 2-1/2 hours later we put a new tie rod on and by that time it was getting dark, so we headed home.
Even with the evening hunt shot, we still had a good time. We saw lots of animals and learned a lot. What a beautiful place, cant wait to get back out there and give it another try.
