So....... please forgive the ignorant question, but I'm not a deer hunter, so here goes:

I thought FHL was A zone, and that A zone is "over the counter"? What I'm inferring from you guys is that if someone wants to hunt deer at FHL, not only do they need an A zone tag, but they also have to be drawn?

You can hunt the A Zone season with over the counter A Zone tags at FHL subject to training area availability. There are also additional archery, junior and antlerless hunts. Half the tags are issued by drawing to the general public through DFW. The other half are issued by the base, also through drawing, to various categories of military and and civilian employees of the the military. These hunts are at different times than the A Zone season and generally result in a less circus like atmosphere for a deer hunt on the base.

Man....... wish I'd have known. I always see "antlerless" deer up there when I'm pig hunting. Would have been nice to shoot one for a change. :)
