I was extremely lucky to draw the Fort Hunter Liggett Muzzloader Bull tag this year. As I have never had the opportunity to hunt Tule Elk before I am obviously very excited. My experience with FHL is limited to a couple quail hunts two years ago. Any tips and helpful advice for preparing for this hunt would be appreciated. Thanks.

Congrats on the tag! I was lucky enough to pull the rifle bull tag. I'm kind of in the same boat as you, I haven't hunted the base for over 20 years. I have had several people on here give me some great info, I'm sure they will chime in.

Thanks for the congrats. It's official, the license just arrived in the mail today! I will be sure to pm you L2H, and thank you for the response. I plan on spending a few weekends at FHL during deer season, and possibly some pig hunting trips. I would like to become as familiar as I can with FHL before the end of October. Good luck to you Mel.

I also got selected for a 326 hunt so i guess i will see you there. I have only ever hunted there once about 6 years ago. I am currently deployed so any information would be greatly appriciated.

Congrats sickguy. That's awesome! Make sure you know where you are when your on the base. You may have seen last weeks Nat Geo show "Wild Justice". A hunter was shown getting cited at FHL for shooting a cow elk in a restricted area. We expect some photos of your trophy bull!

I didn't see the show, but I read about it in another thread. This is the biggest reason I want to be more familiar with FHL, I don't want any questions about the validity of my hunt. I don't want to count my chickens, but if there are horns there is certain to be some "horn porn."
