After all of the frustration about the FHL elk app process this year I thought I'd start a hopeful thread. I put in for one of the 444 early Nov cow hunt military tags. Who else applied through DFG or FHL and which hunts did you apply for. Good luck to all!

I applied for the 447 bull hunt military tag. This will be my second year applying and really the only hunt that fits my schedule with both the wife and I being active duty. I don't expect to get drawn but hey its a point toward next year.

I threw my hat in the ring for a bull tag too... that said I have a cow hunt in Utah set up. Pretty sure I will be going on the cow hunt.

I put in again for 326 muzzleloader Bull military tag. My group is sitting on points for Utah cow that we had planned on until I drew area 15 NM muzzleloader Bull.

448 I think it was, civie cow tag over Turkey weekend like I had 2 years ago. I wanted to roll the loaded dice and go for that bull tag again but them elk fritters and burgers are just too dayum good to go without for very long

Come on lady luck.

I applied for the Archery either sex. I have 11 points too so hopefully it works out. I canceled my colorado trip since we will be having our first child the end of September.

FHL won't let you take your elk home until I take half of it.....hehe.

I went for the 326 muzzy and I don't even have a muzzy. More for the point than anything and If I get the luck of the draw then I will invest the time and money on the muzzy. never hunted elk yet. I would cross my fingers but I don't believe in all that superstition mumbo jumbo...It's bad luck.

I put in for the 326 tag as well. I have 3 points, but that's just for show. My hope lies in the random draw.

elk fritter is like a pork fritter, midwest thang of course. You just carve you off some elk meat and roll it in cornmeal and deep fry that dude up and eat it like that or put it inside a biscuit. Dang good eatin. In the midwest you can get huge pork fritters that cover the plate and hang way off a burger bun. My earliest trips hunting with my dad we would always stop in Cherokee Pass MO at the DOg n Suds and I'd get a pork fritter and root beer. It's still there if you're ever headed down south on I-55 out of STL

Does anyone know if FHL will allow you to change the hunt you are applying for? I am contemplating trying to switch from the 447 Bull to one of the Antlerless hunts. I am guessing my odds will be better at one of the cow hunts. Thanks in advance.

Personally, I'm going out of state this year. OTC tags are a sure thing, and I just can't see waiting to accumulate enough points: and how many years would that take???!!

my guess from other threads would be around 12 years and almost 500 dollars adding the 8 per year app. and the 400+ dfg tag. OTC seems a better way to go and it can be done every year. travel cost are extra but hell, gibb hall room prices tripled and that place is horrible. FHL is a 4.5 hour drive for me. I will do some math and calculate the difference.
