Hi everyone. This is my first post and I was looking to get some opinions on FHL. Looking to take my son up to look for a hog. We went up last year a couple of times in areas 9,15 & 16 and saw lots of sign and 2 hogs, but they were too far. We have some free time this weekend and wanted to give it try, but I see only area 4, 8 & 25 have been the only areas open lately. I hve never been into those areas and was wondering if we would be wasting our time or have any pigs ever been spotted in that area.
Thanks for any advice

Area 25 holds hogs... but if the area has been hit hard lately then the pigs will probably have moved out into surrounding area's. Area 8 can have pigs in it, but the spots are pretty limited. Border of 8/12 would be your best bet if you go to 8. Area 4..... I wouldn't even consider it. If there are pigs there they'd probably be along the 1/4 border, right along the river. Can't say i've heard of hogs in there, though it is possible. But that would be the only spot in area 4 I would even consider looking for pigs as the area is just too damm steep and brushy.

Pigs are where you find em, all the TAs have pigs at one time or another. IMHO, I would stick to the primitive weapon areas and I would hunt along the private property fences looking for where they move in and out of the base.

bjhbawana, did you go to FHL? Did you have any luck if you went? I'm heading up there next weekend (March 12). Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Bears-
Not many areas open lately for general weapons. Only 2 this weekend and nothing last weekend. If you have a muzzle loader or shotgun, try 29 and 13e? It is walk in only but it is a good place for hogs. 29 has lots of water but you will see lots of tracks going back and forth. Good luck.

Yes, I called in and heard that only 4 & 8 are open for general weapons. I wasn't going to bring my shotgun, but now I'm think about it...Okay, I will bring it. That way I'll be able to hunt two areas. Did you have any luck? Once again, thanks for the information.
