Anybody know where the hogs are in TA 27 FHL, or what areas are hot right now? Also, good areas for turkey?

TA 27 is good for pig too, its been a while sine Ive been to FHL but Ive seen pig taken out of there and seen them there too. Check the canyons that are close to the pond, I cant remember the name of it but its close to TA 24. Ive also seen some really big turkeys in there. Good luck

I talked to the guy at the checkout and he said they have a total of ten pigs for the whole season taken so far, and one turkey. There are guys that hunt that place every week and know every square inch too.
TA 27 was open, but they forgot to open the gate, requiring a 45 minute drive thru rough terrain to get there after getting back from a 30 minute jaunt to the locked gate. Needless to say, nobody got a pig out of there.

Only 10 hogs this year? That's terrible! The populations seem to be way down everywhere this year.

I've seen them in TA29. I was muzzle loading and they were too far for a shot.

You have to keep in mind that FHL can only be hunted on the weekend by most folks. Area's are only open if there is no training going on and some area's have gone weeks to years without being hunted for it's targetted species. So saying that only 10 pigs have been taken so far is a bit misleading. It's just a number. We're just getting to the rainy parts of the season where it'll make it easier to locate and track pigs. I'm sure that number will go up as the season progresses.

only around 350 public land pigs are taken each year in the entire state, so 10 ain't bad for FHL, even though it is one of the prime spots

There is alot of pigs @FHL you just gotta get of the the beating track. I did not see them this weekend because I was hunting quail and did not put any effort towards pigs. Plus I only hunted the morning and left at noon.. You need to go to check station and look at the book and see where they harvest the pigs at. Go from there and look for sign. They wont just pop in front of you you gotta hunt them hard. In Time you'll catch up to them. There is alot fo water @ liggett and they won't be to far from there.

I always thought it was easier to locate hogs when it is dry than rainy; when there are only a few watering holes you know where the hogs are going to go. When it rains they can be and go anywhere.
