My son got drawn for the junior hunt this year. That should be fun to figure out. Guess I should get him an orange vest now.

I was told "no registration required" for archery equipment. Have you been told differently?

...Surprised it to this long, being that it is army ran. Soon they will make you wear a PT belt, use a ground guide, get a power point briefing, complete a commanders risk assessment, carry your ACE card at all times, complete a POV inspection, wear proper PPE, and probably carry an AN/PRC-117 to call range control to report in.

+1 They are going way too far imo.

Now it is back to having your stalks blown by a--holes who see your blaze orange and subsequently want to steal your kill. Sigh.

I called in and they told me that there would not be using the teletrac phone system and the weapon registration is for firearms only. I still not sure of the daily check in and out system. When and how do you check out in the evening? do we have to go early every morning and get in line to go back to our ta?

Was that today you called and were told that? I cannot imagine they would require everyone to check in each morning by standing in line. That is just way too many people to handle and I can only imagine a huge fuss being made. Most of us wouldn't get out to a TA until mid morning if they even opened it at 5am to check in on Saturday morning.

Yeah.......500-600 people waiting in line to check in every morning. Even if all the new rules steered half the hunters away from hunting the base, 250-300 people in line trying to check-in will hog up the prime morning hunt hours. And I just can't imagine watching the old days of fist fight because some knucklehead tries to cut infront of the line.

They just can't seem to keep the story straight. Last i spoke to them, Teletrac system will start this weekend and there will be no lottery this deer season.that being said, first two weekends of rifle season, the base will be closed to hunting, third weekend still up in the air. Check in every day via phone, check out that evening to check back in again or choose different TA.

Did they decide to remove the Hunter Orange requirement? I just took the above off of the website and it is not mentioned, as is shown in the first post of this thread. Anyone hear anything on this now? I also did a quick scan of the regs and did not notice it (though it doesn't mean it is not there, just I didn't see it).

Also when looking at the weapon registration form I noticed the following:

When transporting weapons, they must be secured in the vehicle's trunk or, if the vehicle doesn't have a lockable trunk, encased in such a manner that it's not readily accessible to the
driver or passengers.

Does this pertain to while you are hunting in the area? You must still have it cased, but locked away as well, while traversing in your assigned hunting area? That is way over the top if true.

For the Archery opener, it was 1st come 1st serve. The new system should be starting this weekend, as i was tolded that, on last friday. I'm also not that happy about the hunter's orange. Only the fool's that ruin your hunt can see you, not the deer.

So they did make you wear the orange? Because I am not seeing it posted in the FHL Hunting/Fishing Regs... although the dated regs on their website is 2012... hmm
