Deedy has listed areas 29 and 30 as where many pig have been seen, and a sighting in TA 16, problem is I show 29 and 30 as bow, shotgun and muzzleloading only. I sent Deedy an email for clarification, does anyone have any information?

Wild1, we'll be driving in our red Jeep Wrangler.

29 and 30 are indeed shotgun, muzzleloader, and archery only. And they are walk in area's only. They are both good area's, but you have to put in some effort to get an animal there.

Area 3 is also an archery only area. Not sure if its' open this weekend, but it is a really good area also.

I'm all for hunting. We took the DFG pig clinic at FHL in the spring, great one day course on habitat, biology, tactics, diseases, meat care, etc. So we want to get in as much field time as possible. I'm bringing the 30.06, so that locks us out of 29,30,3. But it's a big area and will have to scout and look for sign. And if we run into a covey of quail, we'll have something to put on the barbque!

Hi guys, everybody that inquired about their permits are set and good to go for FHL - I'll e-mail evrybody too- cabowhunter ,gt198 and feathersnhoof you guys are all good. Now if you can get here before 1:30 pm on Friday you can make it to the Game Shack at FHL- she leaves at 2:30 pm you can pre-check in for Sat.- I'll check on the Elk Hunters and see how their tags are coming along, if they're filled we might be able to get some of the TA's that were reserved for the elk hunters (no promises - but I'll try) another pig sighting on 16 today while I was there- elk hunter left to go get pig tags! You are right though 29, 30 park & walk are for primitive (archery shotgun muzzle), 3 is archery only, and 9, 12B,15, 16,24 & 25 are elk tag only hunts.
So that leaves: 101737 acres
1 (4414 ) acres
2 (6142) "
4 (8366) "
5 (5744) "
6 (5481) "
7 (3557) "
8 (5831) "
10/13 (7004) "
11 (7806) "
14 (5012) "
17 (5663) "
18 (5352) "
19 (3622) "
23 ( 6961) "
26 (5075) "
27 (8242) "
28 (7465) "

TAs to hunt with rifle /shotgun /handguns - Don't forget pigeon & dove is over - next year we are opening pigeon/ dove here at the resort -mark your calanders !

Ok, I am starting to feel the effects of a little adrenaline pump over this upcoming weekend, I am looking forward to time in the field hunting in beautiful countryside, meeting JHO folks, and hopefully a shot on a fat hog.
See ya there.

Game shack told me she's leaving at 2:30 (that's why i told everybody to be here at resort at 1:30) let me call her in the morning and make sure I didn't misunderstand ... I thought they stayed open till 6:00 - but when I asked her she said no, she was leaving at 2:30. she's new there though.

Why would the check in window girl leave at 2:30 pm Friday when most people roll in there late afternoon and evening? The whole idea of someone being there until Friday night is so folks can check in, get their area and not have to come back early the next morning and stand in line and miss the best time of the day for spotting hogs. If you have a long drive and hike to your spot it's even worse, you loose an hour waiting for the window unless you get there at 4am to be the first when the window opens.

Is this a permanent change or one time deal? It's going to go over like a turd in the punchbowl if it's permanent.

from the fhl website

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
Registration: Hunters must register in person at the check station registration window located near the campground. Each hunter is assigned to one open training area at a time. Register Fridays- 3-7 pm, Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal holidays- 5:00am – 1:00pm (hours vary with day-length.)[/b]

Will anyone be around on the weekend in case someone wants to change areas say at noon?

I just got off the phone with game shack - I brought it to her attention that it is posted check in until 7:00 tonite- (their rules, their website) and mentioned the turd in the punchbowl. She was not aware of that but is going to talk to boss about working late, I think they'll get this worked out. Elk tags are almost full !!! 4 more to go - chances are they'll get done today- that will get TAs open for this weekend.

Yes they will be open to switch areas in the middle of the day.

1? or 230? That's ridiculous! People need to call Wally and complain. The more complaints the better. On a friday of all days closing at 1 or 2 in the afternoon is ridiculous. The new lady is nice, but unless she's gotten better, she was really slow. Her first day on the job was the opener of quail. I got in line at 6am and didn't get checked out till 745am. And the line wasn't that long. I would think she'll be faster on the checkin now, but you never know.

Good luck to everyone that goes. Hope someone scores. And if they open up the elk area's to everyone. 15 and 16 are where i'd go. Saw a big porker in 16 on the last weekend of deer season.
