Anybody, know when is a good time of year to hunt pig at FHL? I never hunted pig at FHL, only deer and it was years ago.
Is FHL only accessible by four wheel or can someone get by with a two wheel drive?

Thanks,

Larry

Larry, the pigs are always there, just follow the water (River) 2 wheel drive may be ok until it gets wet and then even 4wheel drive isn't enough. Also theres a lead ban on ammo so make sure you bring barnes or similar bullets.

You can get pigs their year round. But they are definately easier to track during the wet season. Easiest thing to do is get up high on some points and glass down into the canyons, valley's, and flats first thing in the morning.

As for the roads, there is a lot of roads that can be driven by 2-wheel drive. But there are also a lot of spots that require 4-wheel.

Thanks for the help guys!!
I Have been itching to get out and hunt, since my season was so short. I only spent two days hunting A Zone and was planning on hunting Montana, but found out they drew tags in the spring
<
So now I have a bear tag and pig tag and want to go hunting. It looks like I may head to FHL for the pigs.

Hi Guys!

Brteil I haven't been to FHL in 30 years so I wouldn't be much good but I might try it sometime in the future plus I have 3 boys in AYSO soccer on the weekends. Baiting is illegal of course but if you and your friend are munching on cracker jack and some spills on the trail oh well. let us know how it go's. I meet some game wardens in SLO and they thought Camp Roberts was the best place for pigs and I spoke to a hunter who told me that told me 45 pigs were harvested opening day but they aren't always open you have to check out their web-site.

XD you will get mai1
