Wish I could. I will be buried at work at least until April 15. Scout some for me too. Also some bears and buck deer.

I have seen bear tracks there only once. Lots of lions though -- big ones and little ones.

Watch out for the rattlers. I don't ever go to FHL without gaiters anymore.

What have peoples experience been with rain in terms of how it affects hog hunting? It seems as though a light rain or just after a rain has gotten them out for me but a heavy rain makes them hunker down and hide. Certainly cloud cover gets them out more in the day, and now that it's wet in NorCal I anticipate they'll be more active.

My crystal ball says, "Someone killed a hog in a walk-in only area. Rob Look drove in to recover the hog and his truck got sucked in by the mud."

Opener of turkey season at FHL many moons ago in late March I almost sat on a rattler that was curled up around a small plant. It was maybe 45F and when I put my shotgun barrel in front of him to see if he was too cold to strike he nailed the barrel. YOu let your guard down and you'll get bit.

This is why I have a game cart and frame pack :thumbs up2:

I use a frame pack with the pack removed, then I halve or quarter the carcass and carry it out in parts.

After the recent rains, the ground is way too soft to go off road anyway.

Rain most of Saturday and yep, walked into TA29. Lots of fresh sign everywhere. . followed tracks into places I'd never been before and I thought I was going to Jackpot. Nope. hunted all day till dark. my buddy got a shot off on a big boar running across the road at around 6pm, but he's a lousy shot. no blood. I called it as a miss. Sunday morning was a 3/4 day hunt. after raining almost all night fresh rooting and tracks again. followed them into the wash, hiked down the wash all the way to the bend/out of bounds then cut right into the brush toward big oak. jumped a nice little 90ish pound piggy. he was there and gone lickity split back into the brush. he gone. took the foothills back to the truck for a monster and cold micro burritos. (amazing how good those are cold after a morning hunt). Went back in and took the ridge road that parallels the main paved road. great glassing areas all the way across and came down the back side at the end of the frontage road. walking back I found a lot of fresh tracks coming into the area thru the fence. so what did I get ? Sore feet, a big fuel bill and a great hunt. One of the best trips I've have had there without a harvest. (See tag line below)
