I was planning on hitting FHL this weekend but it looks like it's gonna be raining pretty good out there. It's about a 4 hour drive for me, that said, would you guys go knowing that it's gonna be raining? Do you think this makes my chances better or worse? Anyone have any good intel on where the pigs are moving, what TA, etc?

Go for it, but keep your vehicle on the pavement.

Good point, I was just given that same warning from other members after hearing some horror stories. I'm fine with that, nothing like humping a pack, on terrain, with a weapon. It'll be like old times again.

Last week 7 was open for general weapons. If it's open again, drive on the paved road all the way to the end where the locked gate to Jolon Rd is. Park and walk in for pigs. They will be out gobbling up worms after the heavy rain.

I was deer hunting 7 this year and hiked that area you described. There was tons and tons and tons of old sign. Probably a good call.

How's Pig and Quail hunting in the rain?

Considering heading up for the afternoon Saturday.

Nate if you PM your # maybe we can meet up or at least contact each other in the event one of us runs into trouble with the mud etc.

Pig hunting should be good if it isn't raining too hard, but do not drive off the paved roads... The acorns are on the ground and the pigs are rooting everywhere, in fatc a buddy hit a huge one with his beemer the other night just outside of town and there is rooting all along El Camino Real.

4x4 is not good enough for fhl clay mud. But if you think its worth it and you get stuck and a tow truck will not pull you cause they'll stuck also. If you do get stuck its $200 a pop plus .Have fun getting unstuck. BTW I have every thing to get my self unstuck winch chain and straps. But I'm going for the hunting not to pull other out. It would take away from my hunting time.

I might be braving the weather and go out as well. Like others have said stay on paved or the developed roads. I've gotten into a couple sticky situation before and now know better to not even go in. It's gets slippery!

sent, I'll look out for your truck while I'm out there. I'm gonna check out the spot above.

Too bad for the beamer but, that is music to my ears. It means they are moving.

Thanks for the offer. We're neighbors, maybe we'll link up for a carpool another time.

That seems to be the recurring theme about FHL and rain. I don't plan to do any serious trial blazing in my truck, most likely, gonna park and hump in and out. I don't wanna get stuck.

Good luck Nate. I'm debating going up with all the wind and rain for some turkey hunting. I'll holler at you if I do go.

Thanks Jesse! The sooner the better, you're just over the canyon from me, we could carpool. Looks like we'll be leaving sometime in the afternoon tomorrow so lemme know. It would be an honor to hunt with you.
