haha. Thanks for the tip Map!

I got 3 finals on Monday but I'm gonna e-mail the rest of the pics to Nate and he can write up his report whenever he gets a chance.

I'll try and post up my own report as well later this week after I get all this school stuff taken care of.

Man, if I didn't have to dealt with my finals, I could off been up there hunting this weekend already. Congrat guys!

OK guys, I'm back home, unpacked and settled in. So here's my report:
I wanted to leave for FHL NLT 1300 in Fri but that didn't happen. It's storming here in So Cal also and that storm did some damage on our network. I was in the field responding to trouble all day Fri and still needed to zero my new optic so, got off work Fri @ 1900, shot over to the Beaumont Indoor Shooting Range to zero my leupold VXR 3-9x40, went home threw my gear in the truck and finally got on the road at around 2100, got to FHL @ 0400, crashed in the campground for an hour, woke up to the alarm and a missed call and a text from MD13 "I'm 20 min out" Threw on my cammies, laced up the boots, brushed my teeth and met up with MD.

We checked in and headed for TA 7 on some tips from Map and XD Hunter. As said by MD, the roads were shitty, we didn't wanna chance getting stuck so we parked and hiked in to the spot that was recommended. We worked for these kills. I started the day with a pack that weighed approx 7 lbs but ended up about 30 once it got waterlogged. My boots, along with everything else was soaked and no matter how hard I tried to avoid it, I couldn't stop picking up mud and sinking into the soft clay. We hiked approx 5 mi round trip with about half of that being in the soft stuff.

On the way in, we were seeing sign but nothing real fresh that we could follow. It was here and there and only a few tracks. I was looking for a hog highway, something more promising. After what seemd like hours, MD suggeted we check out a little trail that lead into a clearing, We picked up 2 sets of hog tracks leading in, the wind was blowing a good direction and as we round a bend, hogs at 1' O clock and approx 125 yds out. They are rooting on hillside and are oblivious to our presence. Out of excitement, I immediately drop my pack, try to get setup for a shot and lay down in a puddle, DOH! There goes the memory card on my S3, good thing I have all my media backed up on dropbox.

MD suggests that we stalk closer, so we get up and circle around, keeping the wind in a favorable direction. We stalk to within 50 yds and just happened to come upon a fallen oak tree that served as a perfect bench rest. So we pick our targets and agree to shoot on 3. 1, 2, 3, Bang! MD gets off first, DRT, Hog down. Bang, a second after MD, I let off and hit the hog. Winchester Razorback XT .308 clean through his left front leg. He stumbles around, I follow up and click, friggin FTF on my newly acquired Remington R25. WTF?! I try to clear the stoppage but see the hog still moving, confused, maimed, suffering, finally clear the stoppage and bang, drop him with a follow up shot right through the top of his neck, into his spine 2 hogs down in TA-7! After a myriad of hand shakes, high fives, fist bumps, war cries and happy dances, we drag the hogs up to a cement spot, snap pics and get to work. It was our first time dressing out pigs and it was a good feeling knowing that we have both just scored our first DIY kills. I plan to roast mine whole so opt not to quarter and we both carried them out, on our backs. We covered the approx 2.5 mi back with waterlogged packs, boots and boned hogs in under an hour. Throw them in my truck and off to the game shack to skin.

We get back to the game shack, skin em', clean up a little and we have just completed our first DIY hog hunt and have earned the title of Hunter. My phone had the pics and they are now gone. MD13 has some more that he's gonna email, at which time, I will post here.
Today was a good day. Special thanks to Map and XD for the intel. :JHO rocks:

Sweet Nate, congrats to you and MD13. 7 can hold turkeys too if you have an upland stamp and want to chase them around tomorrow. All that work after long drive you're prolly gonna sleep in.

Wow congrats guys and thanks for the great read. Still working on my first pig to give myself the hunter title but those beasts are everywhere and nowhere at the same time so go figure. Been looking at FHL for awhile now but just seems intimidating for a newbie. Post some pics when you get a chance I need the fuel to get through finals week and try again to get my pig.

Anybody know why they've blocked Sulphor Springs Rd at Mission now? That's gonna a long walk in the mud on rainy days now and I'm sure guys are getting stuck back in there trying to make it all the way to 7. Bike won't help either in that nasty mud.

Does anyone know if you can park off Jolon by Sulphur Springs and hike in? I shot my deer near there also.

You're not kidding. Definitely a bit of a trek... And really no other way in when its raining except for walking in. On the other hand it was nice having the whole area to ourselves...

Great job guys. They took a couple hogs from 7 when I was there a few weeks ago scouting.

Not this pig, but my last pig. I cooked these up tonight as I had to make some space for this last pig.

Boar ribs and bullet holes, it's what's for dinner.
