Bummer about the pigs but good to know about the way around to Sulphur Springs road... It was dark when we were heading in and I didn't really feel like taking a wrong turn and ending up where we weren't supposed to as well as the guy at the shack said Upper Milpitas was the only way in... Good to hear about the road being driveable. We made it to the border of 7 on Milpitas road but didn't want to take any chances after we came to a flooded low point and decided to hike from there.

I saw your tracks when I drove through on Saturday afternoon. I saw where you guys parked and turned around. It was a brutal walk. It would have been a closer and easier walk if you guys had went through the guard and parked inside the compound at the closed gate on Sulphur Spring. Then walk Sulphur Spring all the way.

On Mission Creek Road after you passed the Billeting and Hacienda and before the pavement end. There are two roads that turns to your right. The first right turn is a paved road and you will see some junk cars inside fenced in yard. The second right turn takes you along the base of the hills and meet back with the first road just after the fenced in junk cars yard. There is a wire gate about 70 yards from where the two roads meet back together. From the wire gate, you can see Sulphur Spring about 100 yards out. That's the corner of area 10, 13W, and 7.

Hello Live2hunt,

I put an ATV Icon on my Recon Hunt Map at the intersection of the two roads with Mission. Couldn't find the junk cars with the Arial Photo. Do I have it right?

Yes those are the two roads. If you zoom in enough you will see the junk cars.

Be careful what you ask for. Chilli wrap will take its toll at the right place and time.

XDHunter, remember the guy that pulled the smoke pole trigger at a pig in 13E, didn't hear a BOOM, unshouldered the smoke pole then it went BOOM in the air? I think the guy's name was Solus. We need to see him dance to the chilli!!!

lol I dont have a smoke pole just a bow

I think the wire gate L2H mentioned is accessed from the first right turn after passing Hacienda outside the compound. Beats going all the way to area 3 border and back.

Forgot to take some pictures of us playing in the mud. Got stuck twice in 15. Good to have JHO buddies on this trip. Saturday, was rescued by XD, L2H, and Outbrakerida. Sunday, rescued by XD. Also, thanks to unknown hunters on Nissan truck who attempted to help.

This trip, we tied several pigs under oak trees. Just need to go back and shoot it. :)

Haha yea totally forgot to take pictures! Was too busy digging us out that forgot about it.

That "official" message is what I put on our FHL webpage, that IS NOT the official FHL website.

The iPhone PDF Reader Application will download Jesse' Handout Maps. These smart phones are really kool. Archery hunters will need the new maps.

I wonder how many misses go unreported to escape the dance... hehe.

reminds me of our openning weekend up in D7 this year. same place i took L2H last year. one of the hunter came back to camp very quiet. the guy wouldn't eat anything we offered him, he wouldn't engage in any of our jokes, and remained disconnected from the group that night. we grubbed on the best BBQ and he just would not eat. on the long drive back home two days later, we learned he missed a once-in-a-lifetime monster buck. hehe

so if anyone showed back at FHL camp all white and pale, just offer him the chili wrap.

OK so I've gathered that the chili wrap dance is done when someone misses but how did the name come about? A google search doesn't return any results for the steps to the dance. Reason I'm asking is because my next outing will be with some new hunters and in the event of any misses, I'd like to carry on the tradition and have them perform the dance.

Also, I finally got Maps' FHL overlays to work. I finally figured out that I had to install a third party app called KMZL that pigy backs Google Earth in order for GE to properly display the .kmz file that I got from map. Now if I could only figure out how to drop a pin in GE on an Android device, I'll be set. The FHL overlays worked up by Map are friggin' awesome to say the least!

You guys must be retired and kids out of the house. No wonder you guys rack up so many harvests.
