Thanks for the lesson, Uncle Bambi. I'm wanting to get into the piggy game, but don't know thing one about it, except that FHL is the place to be. Where can I learn more about access/reservations, etc? Can a newbie DIY, or is a guide/mentor really needed?

A newbie can have success, but it would be by pure chance unless you know about hunting pigs. They aren't just running around all over, you have to know what to look for, and when why and how they move during different conditions. Go ahead and give it a try, even if you don't get lucky you'll have fun in a beautiful environment and learn something you can apply to the next trip. There really is no way around putting your time in and learning how to hunt them.

Thanks for the tip on the knives....I just looked at the SW knives and 2 knives with 420C steel for 19 bucks is a very good deal.

That is an H&R Ultra Slug Hunter in 20ga, with a 2-7x32 Nikon Slughunter scope. It is a good combo, but in hindsight I wish I would have got the 3-9x40.

If you buy one of these shotguns, make sure you get the one with the heavy barrel.

Actually, 3 knives and a scabbard for them. This is the set I bought, but I got mine at the local Big 5 on sale for $19. It really is a nice, inexpensive set that performs way past its price-point.
