I have not been to FHL since Spring. I am also planning on going down there this weekend.

If you want to hunt and do a bit of walking, go to area 29. It is walk in only but the latest reports I
have heard is that 29 has some hogs.

Make sure you call on Wed or Thurs to see what areas are open. That will dictate what areas
will available for hunting.

Good luck this weekend. What kind of car will you be in?

I think there will be lots of areas open because there were a bunch open last weekend.
Just my gut feelings. But will call on Wed or Thr to confirm.

The only problem is they take about a week to get your permit. Might be hard to get it
before weekend. :-(.

I got my notification last week and it took about 7 days.

To bad you can't make it...................................we will post when we get back
and hopefully with a little luck a few good areas will be open and
we will run ito the hogs.

Should be good. With no rain and the warm weather, the pigs will be going to the year round water holes...

I've been hunting there for years and can never seem to be in the right place at the right time, but always have a great time.
I was just there over the Veterans holiday weekend and got some quail and dove out of zone 2. It rained a little the first day. Not too many hunters in the campground nor out in the field.
We also went to zone 29 and saw some fresh sign, but no pig

. Need to get out early, with all of the bird hunters out making noise, the pig take off. Good luck guys. Let us know how it goes.

spectr17-
went down there this last weekend and hunted our butts off. it was really dry and checked out all of
good areas (at least the ones that were open). some closed for the elk hunting.
did not find a thing. not a lot of recent sign from what i could tell.

as far as the holidays go, they have in the past been open during the weeks before and
after chrismas, but not sure if they will open this year. last year i believe they were
closed down, but only open on the weekends.

Hey guys, I was there over the holiday weekend. Saw lots of game. No pigs. Maybe half a dozen bucks. Some really nice ones. Saw lots of turkeys. Harvested one bobcat out of 3 encounters. Two guys who were hunting elk in a elk zone harvested two really nice pigs, 200+. It was a good experience, got lots of info from the regulars who go there and found few places of my own that looked promising. Defenantly going back again next month. Hope the rains bring the pigs with them.

What area did you guys hunt? I was up there friday and hunted 10/13. Lots of pig sign, but since it was so dry couldn't tell how fresh it was. Shot a bunch of quail though. And it was coooold. Truck temp guage said 17 degrees on Jolon road coming in at 530.

Yeehaw. Just sent off my fort app. Thanks for the reports

FHL can get REAL cold. We froze our arses off a couple times up there while training and tactical where we couldn't light a fire or have any light. Rain and 33 degrees is miserable in the mud.

I'll be headed up there in a couple of weekends, saw a big group of hogs in an area over 20 hogs in one band and two bruisers to boot. I also saw a good hog in another area 150lbs it was all black with white down from its eyes to its snout. Hopefully i can find it again because of how cool it looked. Good luck.

When you guys hunt FHL is it mostly spot and stalk or blind hunting? I have never hunted there, only fished. Anyway a couple buddies from the fire department want to hunt it. I just don't know much about the place.
