Drive right out the back of FHL into the los padres national forest. You arent legally allowed to target shoot but if you just pop off a few shots to sight check your rifle whos gonna care.

This is a tough time to hunt FHL. I was up there for opening weekend of archery season for A zone last year, and not one hunting group even saw a hog. I saw about a dozen deer, but no pig. It is just so damn hot, the hogs are just bedding in the thickets. I hope to hear some good news from you when you get back.

Does that mean there's no hogs on FHL? Just wondering?

that absolutely dosent mean that there are not hogs on FHL. That just means that they are bedded down. As any animal does, they change their habbits to the weather. hot weather they bed during the hot hours and move during the cold ones. aka sleep during the day and move at night. nocturnal. hunt early morning and late afternoon. you will probably see some during the 6 pm and on hours. ill be there training after next saturday the 10th so ill probably see you there.

There are hogs at FHL. A couple things to keep in mind. During the summer it is 115 - 120 degrees. It is enormous, and very dense. Water is hard to find in the summer (not this year). With this in mind and knowing how pigs react to these conditions makes it a very hard hunt. There is no doubt that there are pigs at FHL, they are just hard to find (especially during the peak of summer).

Ok thanks, kind of though that was the case. Just have heard others saying there were no hogs on a ranch because they didn't see any.
