pigs are nocturnal mainly...so the chance that they bedded down all night in the manzanita and were still there in the morning are about 1 in 1000000. You're lucky you at least saw some hogs though, did better than me!

ev is right here, the pigs are mainly nocturnal, but I do see them at all times of day. And sometimes right out in the open next to the roads...
They move around ALOT, and can walk 10 miles and more to get water or feed. So, if you do see them in one spot they may be back, and then again they may not... So, if you see go after them, you might not get a second chance.
FHL and the surrounding ranches have good populations of wild pigs and since FHL limits the amount of hunters and available TA's, they tend to stick around.
IMHO, the moon does not have any effect on pigs what so ever, they are driven by food and water, period. Find those two and the pigs will not be far away. They are VERYy smart and if they get pushed or over hunted, they will leave the area, period.

wing,
FHL is a great place to hunt.
And there are loads of pigs, if you follow the tips you find on JHO(there are more than enough to get a newbie started in the right direction), scout the base as it is hugh, follow any fresh tracks you see, look for trails going on and off base, set up near water or food, get away from the roads on foot, and listen to those ladies at the checkin window you should have a great time.
And the weather is supposed to cool down, and maybe rain this weekend. Good luck and post back your stories...
