I see that FHL was open this past weekend with a ton of TA open. Did anyone make it over there? I'm planning on heading over on June 17th, so if any JHO'rs are around, come by for a cold one.

My buddy and I went on Saturday, May 13, arriving at FHL in the pre-dawn hours and at check-in we chose Area 30. It is a walk-in, muzzyloader, archery or shotgun slug only area. My buddy who is a meticulous animal sign reader could find only 1 set of fresh piggie tracks on the creek drainage which is about 2.5 miles long. Indicating the animals are holding tight in the impenetrable thickets bordering the creek banks all along the length of the creek drainage. With the hot sun cooking up the temperature at about 12:30 PM, we decided that no piggie will come out in the hot temperatures and the chances of spotting one in the thickets or even in the open were zilch, zero, nada, not gonna' happen. So we decided to change the hunting area to one that has a reservoir and no flowing creek/river to ambush the thirsty piggies at sundown. Well, we reached the hunter check-in station at 1:03 PM and that office closes at 1:00 PM so we missed the chance to change the Hunting Area. We just decided to scoot on to homeward bound to L.A. and come back for piggie hunting some other time, preferably in the winter/spring seasons when the daytime temps are cooler and more conducive to piggies roaming around much later in the morning after sun-up. FHL is just a beautiful, enchanting well preserved place that the hike in the scenery alone is well worth it for me. Those FHL pigs are getting fat and heavy from all the greeneries. 'Nuff said.

My deer/elk hunting partner went up there yesterday afternoon to hunt it this weekend. If there's a story to tell, I'll be sure to pass it on here...

just got in from fhl we went over for the day the new girl told me they took out 3 pig from area 30 and two more from another area last weekend the biggest one was around 120lbs we left out at 330am and hit rian at chalome and at didnt let up all day we were soked from head to toes no pigs checked in yesterday when we got there area 30 was booked up so we went to area 16 seen one cyote and 4 elk but the roads where bad so we went back and she told us that 2 had left 30 so we where off we went to our spot seen lot of fresh crap and beds and tracks but no pigs as we where heading down the hill towards the truck i heard a shot over the hill so we ran up and when we got to the top we see a pig running across at about 250yds he goes into the heavy cover and holds so we go in after it and after about an hour of looking we give up we kicked up 6 deer out of there but not one pig so we came home wet and tired but we still had a great time vern
