Gotta start somewhere.

Been trying to get my first hog or buck with a bow for five years, and after many previous mistakes and blown stalks, my arrow went right where it needed to go. Ranged at 42 yards, this young boar was snoozing in the sun and got surprised. The weather was perfect - lows overnight were below freezing, and the temperature was still only in the 40's at 10 am.

Good blood on the arrow, but no trail. Just had to walk 20 yards and saw him at the base of a tree. Second arrow from 5 yards finished him off quickly. Though he was only 80 pounds cleaned up, he still kicked my butt as he was down in a canyon. I'm an idiot for hunting solo, but I'm also too old to learn anything from the experience.

I'm thinking wild boar chorizo.

Sweet!! Good job. I can't wait to get after some pigs this year. I think this will be year three for me chasing pigs with the bow with one missed shot to show for it.

wtg Bodega, nice looking hog, and a 1st bow kill even better. I've been bow hunting for 6 yr's and shot at a hand full of buck's, but no luck as of yet, but it is going to happen, but I've been lucky to take them with my rifle, until this yr's tag soup lol , ^5 again on your hog.

great job bodega, that to me is the perfect size for a boar, every cut should be tasty. and yes I miss the chorizo from willowside meats they do a great job. but the hams they smoke are off the hook.

Thanks y'all. TRA, I had G5s. Both shots went clean through. Matthews LX tuned down to 63 lbs.

congrats on your hog...hunting them with stick and string never gets old. As a solo hunter myself I can relate to how hard it can be to pack something out on your own.I've learned over the years that the more physically prepaired you are the more memorable the experience.
