Had a great first hunt for 2009.

We ended up with 2 nice boars.

First thing Saturday we got in on to groups one group of 60 and another grouip of 40. They ended up getting together and started fitting. We slide in and took 1 out of that group.

The next hog we had to get close as the shotter could not walk very well. After 5 set ups from the Rhinoe he shot his on Sunday afternoon at 100 yards fron the machine.

Hog numbers are up ...we looked at close to 250 hogs in 2 days.

Yea no one has hunted hogs for a couple months on this Ranch so they just eat all day.

Well done, nice hogs! Are you hunting up north or on the central coast? We have seen hog numbers declining on the central coast, where I hunt anyway. Most of the hogs I've seen are in decent shape, just aren't as many. I hope all that rain we finally got last month will turn things around.

Pretty awesome!

I know, I just went hunting a couple weeks ago, but I'm already getting the itch again!

We hunt east of Redding..These are all pure strain Russian.

We try to manage a bit and target boars and dry sows only.

That is the hardest thing with public land, when you see a hog you are just glad youfound one and it gets shot. Shooting one breed sow is like killing 15 pigs in one shot.

Congrats on the hogs. 250 hogs! I haven't seen that many wild hogs in my life! Sounds like you'll have lots of good hunts there for sometime.

That first hog pic is a dandy. He looks like a pretty tough dude to run into.

Now that's the way to start the new year. Nice looking hogs. 250 pigs seen would impress the hell out of me.

Yeah I hear ya. Most of the guys that constantly kill pigs in the areas I hunt won't kill a sow with piglets but I occasionally hear hunters talking about killing a sow with little ones. I can't blame them, like you said, you hunt all year and finally see one..........BANG! I have to admit that sometimes it's a little temping with the bow.

This one was a pretty easy drag....10 feet or so. Waite we didn't drag him we just picked him up and loaded him on the Rhino.
