This is the first hog of the season and Bob's first hog. Bob show's up Friday afternoon around 5:30. We decide to have the wives drop us off on a hill overlooking the creek where I seen several hog's the day before. As we're nearing the drop off point we looked down and see a couple hog's in the creek. We climb up the hill, stoppped to catch our breath knowing as we look over it should be an easy shot down into the creek. We get ready and peek over.....nothing.......nada......what should have been a heard of hogs was nothing but a bunch of tules. We sat and watched for about an hour and figured somehow we got winded. As a last ditch effort we planned on walking up the creek and see if we can spook something out of the brush. Then Bob starts pointing.........I look and there in the creek from out of no where were 2 hog's......Bob takes a rest and drops the bigger hog with one shot through the heart.....turns out to be 100# sow........as we're going to retrieve her out step's some larger hog's to check out what all the noise was.........we only had 1 tag and I don't think it mattered as Bob was happy with the sow he got.

Very cool, Birddawg! Congrats to Bob as well!

A pig in the hand beats a bunch in the bush... she'll eat good, and that's the main thing.

central california...the pic makes her look alot smaller than she was....and wavesfr is right...this is the hairyest pig I've ever seen......I think it's a part feral hog part russian and part mother in law.

Nice work BirdDawg...It doesn't get any better- !
Nice hairy piggie too- what do you think makes 'em hairy? Just wondering, I've got a solo hairy bachelor boar here-! Yours is much cuter.

what do you think makes 'em hairy[/b]

that is a good question.........from pictures I've seen of true russians they look like little mammoths.....this may be a cross breed.....I don't know if there are any russian hog's in this area....I've seen several razor back hog's around.......they look like ugly pig's with a little hind end sporting a mohawk but none of them were hairy like this one.......could be this is a relative of big foot.
