Hi Everyone,
I'm a new user to the forum as evidenced by this being my first post, and generally I lurk and absorb information, but in this case I was hoping to crowd-source some first hand accounts of pig-hunting in the Cache Creek BLM area . I've been searching the forums for any relevant information and while there seem to be a lot of threads regarding the area and hogs, some of the information is old and much of it vague. I understand that no-one wants to give up their prized hunting spot, and I wouldn't want to either, basically what I'm hoping to get is a good starting point to work from.
The plan is for a buddy and I to go backpacking through the area next weekend, scouting along as we go, find some place to set up camp for the night, and then scout some more in the morning and head back out before it gets too late. It's obviously a large swath of land, and with that in mind I'm hoping someone with experience can point us in a general direction that might give us some sort of luck at seeing game. Nothing is guaranteed and I don't want anyone to do all the work for me, but I would like to make the most of my time out there without stumbling through brush that never has or will have game running through. So far I'm thinking starting out at the cowboy camp trailhead on 16 and pushing out on the loop east and possibly south trying to avoid working into private land and working out past the traffic of the trail.
Any information would be ultra-helpful in this situation and thanks in advance.
