My things are packed and I'm ready to go... Leaving Friday early morning from LA area.... I just hope there will be enough hunting areas open so that enough people will get in... Planning on heading into area 27 if its available... Who else is coming?

I will be there... but I have to work tomorrow till 2... so wont' be there till 430ish. If my party draws a good number i'm screwed.. if they draw a mid number I have a chance. Otherwise i'll be at the back of the line..

Well packed it was...da results of drawing were a total of 163 spots in line... i luckily got #69 as my spot. According to da staff when i got my area they said their was a total of 380 somethin hunters n their were still hunters showing up. Well hopefully tomorrow will be a memorable one, its da 1st time my 13 yr old daughter is joinin me for a deer hunt... I also brought my 12 yr old cousin who lost his father ( my uncle ) 3/28/2011... He also had a passion for hunting. Making sure his passion for
Hunting continues to live on with his children. Your deeply missed uncle Tony... we love you !!!

I was there for the opener, it was packed, and my dad & I where #95, and got into 11 for rifle. We saw about 11 doe's and 1 nice 2x2, but he was in 12B. Today my friend Ron's daughter Kaylie shot her 1st ever buck, and with a muzzleloader, wtg Kaylie on your 1st buck, and congrate's to Ron the I'm so sure happy as hell dad, ^5. Today I heard that FHL could be closed next weekend due to Military maneuver's, you all might want to check for sure. I sure hope I'm wrong, I want to be there also next weekend.

Wow! Nice to hear Kaylee shot her first buck! And with a muzzy to boot! I'll have to give her props next weekend.

Victor thanks for the forum info we didnt get anything either 13w 6 and 9 seemed to have the best success rate I checked on saturday and 5 out of 12 deer where from there and only 2 pigs where take at that time full moon hurt everyones hunt I think

Were the deers out of 13W taken with a bow or a rifle?

Following are the areas and weaponry for FHL this past weekend. It shouldn't have been with a rifle.


Hunt Areas open for hunting Saturday August 13, 2011 through Sunday August 14, 2011 are as follows:

• General weapons: 4, 8, 11, 14, 17, 18, 23, 26
• Archery, Crossbow Muzzleloader, Shotgun with Birdshot ONLY: 1, 5, 7, 9, 13W, 19, 24, 28
• All Other Areas Are Closed - NO ACCESS

FULL MOON really did kill the hunt... The deer were only active for half an hour begining and ending of the day... Dont get me wrong.. I did flush out a buck in the afternoon but he flew like a jet didnt give me a shot... Came across two spikes one with a side kicker but had velvet on it so i cudnt tell how big it was didnt take a shot... Most likely the side kicker or the 2nd point on on side was like a bumb probably not a legal buck.. cudnt tell so didnt risk it.. plus i was after a little bit more of a bigger buck... I hunted area 26 which is very steep and all brush so you cant see shit! only by the river it was worth to give a try... Then i hunted area 11 and it was a great area but there was very little movement of deer on sunday... Saw fresh tracks of pigs everywhere right by where 14 and 11 meet... Maybe next time fellas... Jst wish they open up normal areas in the upcoming weekends... And atleast allow shotgun slugs to be used... Not bird shot... lol ... And yes i already knew the reason why they dont allow so no need to explain...

I was curious as to why no shot gun slugs were allowed. If its a touchy subject could I get a pm on it? I am hoping 25 opens up. Hunted pig there and I all I saw were deer lol.

oh I saw a really nice buck on the back of someones jeep on saturday night atleast a 3x3 muley congrats to whoever got that one wish it was me
