Well William,

I am in the same market as you, will be there that weekend as it stands now. Just sent off my voucher request and permit fees and have a rez at the Hacienda.

Looks like a hell of a weather weekend thou!! Predictions say cold 28-50 with freezing rain. But who knows? I''ll suffer through it like I have before back east. Still better than working or honey dues!!

Maybe I'll see you there. I'll be driving a beige (gold) '99 F-150 with white camper shell.

Bad weather? YES!!!!!

That will keep a lot of the hunters away. It will also keep the interior free from the road warriors. On the other hand, that mud can make your boots awfully heavy.

Hey guys

Just to ley you know,They have troops in the field this weekend. And make sure to call next week when you go. There is alot going on now military wise, so you don't want to make a long trip to find FHL closed down to hunters, so cover your butt, and call right when you leave.

Good Luck to you all

Boar Tracks thanks. And everyone remember to call Thursday evening and listen for the report for the weekend of the 15th, 16th, and 17th.

Sometimes the recorded message that gives the open TAs is on Wednesday night and sometimes Thursday night.

You need to listen to the weekend they are giving the information for.

I read on this site that some hunters went all the way out there and there was only one or two TAs open and they were full. I believe they had listened to the report for the previous week.

And bring proof of insurance, and vehicle registration !!!!!

Happy Trails

Rain huh? Well that could be good? Except I'm planning on sleeping in the tent. One time last winter I went. It got so cold that a 1 gallon water bottle froze. Yes I was in a tent then too. So (FIREWOOD) will be a good idea huh. who alls going solo besides Me?

I was there on Saturday (2-8-03) in the afternoon and I spoke with John at the check in window. He said there were no hogs taken as of that time. We left cause we couldnt hunt, due to no reservation made. The campground was almost empty, not to many folks around....

Hoghunter, thanks for the report. I called the biletting office and asked for a room and was told they were booked for the entire month of February. Hummm.... Well, maybe there was no one in the campground, because they were all in the hotel???

I am excited about going this weekend. It should be good!!! Well, I mean I'll have fun.

Hey Bill,

Just looked at the weather forecast for this weekend up around Jolon (FHL) looks a lot better than last week. And with this recent rain maybe we can harvest some pork. Sure hope so!

Now got to check the recording and pray they don't shunt down the fort this weekend!!

Some people have emailed me about billetting at FHL and not being able to get a room.

As I posted in the long FHL from a month ago, FHL billetting IS NOT required to rent civilian hunters rooms. Billetting is for the military and they are required to hold rooms in reserve. You can try and sweet talk them into a room but it sounds like they are not renting them out much to us hunters.

If anyone does get a room please let us know what line you used.

Jesse, thanks. When I called I did not tell them I was a civilian or military. The first words out of the woman's mouth after I asked her about a room is "it is booked for the entire month of February"

I was not aware that they were not obligated to give out rooms to civilians.

Thanks
Bill
