Hey everyone...

Because everyone is scaring us about how busy it is going to be during deer season,
<
we have decided that we cannot sell permits over the counter on Fridays & Weekends, at least until deer season is over.

HOWEVER, we are still offering to sell permits to you over the counter if you come to the registration office during Mondays thru Thursdays, 8am to 4:30pm during the month of July. Sorry guys, but it's going to get crazy with 400-600 people in line during deer season and we just want the line to go fast without people having to wait while we sell permits at the same time.

By the way, the update this weekend: 2 pigs from TA-16, 2 pigs from TA-24, 1 pig from TA-29, 1 pig from TA-30, 1 pig from TA-15, and the last one was taken but TA was unreported.

Happy 4th of July!

Rannie, I have a question about the permits....

Is it one permit per group or per hunter?

I'll be accompanying my son (13 yo) on his J10 tag for FHL in Oct. I don't think he needs a permit (or gets a free one since he's a junior?), but do I need to get a weekend permit?

Thanks,

Zen

Hi Zenhunter,

Congrats on your son's J-10 tag! He is qualified for a "no fee" permit but he still needs to submit a permit application and just check the "no fee" box. He will be issued a permit sticker when he arrives for his J-10 hunt.

Since you are going to be with your son on his J-10 hunt, you would have to be a non-hunting visitor. If/when he tags out and the both of you plan on hunting afterwards, you would need a permit sticker as well. You would have to submit a permit application, either a $70 Annual pass or a $25 Weekend pass.

Yes, it is one permit per hunter. :)

Hi larrysogla! It's no problem at all. Rochelle & I hope to see you again soon!

Hi Rannie,

It was great meeting you and Rochelle over the 4th of July weekend. You gals did a great job issuing me and my dad hunting permits. Thank you.

One question about hunting in the base. With archery deer season open this weekend, can we still hunt pig with rifle?

Hi Live2Hunt!

It was nice meeting you too! Yes, you can still hunt pigs with rifles while deer season is going on. I wonder how it's going to be this weekend with A-Zone Archery opener?

Hi Patrick! How are you?!

Well, hope to see you both soon! We're open this weekend with TA's 11, 14 thru 19 and 23 thru 29.

Thanks Rannie, I think it won't be too busy for you and Rochelle. Some people told me the archery deer season is not that bad. Only the rifle deer season that you two may have to worry about. I'll see you later tonight, hope I can make it there before 7pm.

L2H,

Just to make it clear, you can hunt pig with a rifle as long as you are not bow hunting because it is illegal have a rifle in possession if you are bow hunting :)

Rannie,

Yes I know. That's why I'm all by myself in TA-23 with my bow and my dad, brother, and nephew were in TA-19 pig hunting with rifles. Again it was nice to meet both you and Rochelle. Thanks for all your help.

The weekend of the 23rd and 24th will only have area 25 and 29 open. Area 29 is park and walk only and will be open to only bow hunters this weekend. Area 25 is open to all and you can drive in. Go early to get in , it only holds around 25 guys, and honestly thats to many for this area.

Hi guys!

Richw, the heat is terrible down here... it's been in the 100's the past couple of weeks. Most of the guys are doing early morning hunts and evening hunts. As for the bow hunters, they harvested 4 bucks so far. And I think about 7 or 8 pigs since opening archery deer season.

There's lots of training going on with the Seabees and Marines here so not that many areas have been open. Hopefully we'll get more areas this upcoming weekend :)

Hope to see you guys there!

Rannie,
I have mailed today my $70 annual permit application.
We plan on arriving the day(Friday) before opening of deer season. We would like to register on that Friday. My question is, after obtaining the annual $70 permit and registering on a Friday, do we get our training areas that same Friday or do we get the training areas on Saturday and Sunday only. Thanks and God Bless.
