Hi larrysogla!

Okay, I'll be looking out for your application and make sure your permit gets processed right away. I'm a little confused- Which Friday are you coming on? August 5th or August 12th?

If Friday, August 5th:
Yes, you can pre-register on Friday to hunt for the weekend.

If Friday, August 12th:
They are planning on doing a lottery (cards will be handed out with unique numbers and you write your name and party) every Friday during Rifle Deer Season between the hours of 11am to 2pm. Between 2pm to 3pm, our staff will be checking for anyone putting in multiple cards with their names on it (to insure it's fair this year, those who put their names on more than one card will be banned for the season) and then the cards will be put into a computerized randomizer. At 3pm, we post the results and start registering people into training areas. If you can't make it on Friday, you could do stand-by during the weekend and wait for people to tag out.

So depending on training area availability and your luck in the lottery, you may be able to register on Friday. Good luck to you and everyone

Rannie,
Thank you very much for the fast reply. We will be up there on Friday, Aug. 12 to enter the lottery if they do it that way. Already looking forward to excitement and fun hunt at FHL, thanks to you guys in a large way that take care of us, hunters.
It is certainly a big blessing to the hunting community what you and the military are doing for us hunters. Take care and God Bless.

Hi FoothillsPro12,

Sorry for not responding right away... it's been so busy over here at work. But to answer your question, if you cannot make the lottery on Friday, then on Saturday and Sunday you can be in the "sweat line" which is like being on stand-by... that line is for people who want to wait for people to tag out.

Give us a call if you have more questions and we can be more detailed.

Regards,
Rannie

Happy Birthday...
And by the way, have you guys gotten any stats on the hunt success totals for us. How many bucks and how many pigs taken since the opener?
We would like to hear....

If we can get a total of how many bucks / hogs / etc since opening of archery season, could you possibly break it down by training area?

Thanks

Oh... and I have a question... probably a question that has been asked and answered a milllion times.. but here goes.

Is Hunter Liggett covered under the A24 tag? If so, will the 'lottery' still be running for this hunt?

I just checked the DFG deer zone map and it appears that Liggett is all in Monterey country so you should be good to go. Since deer rifle season is over it shouldn't be very crowded. I don't know if they make some of the normal training areas Archery only during this tag but I don't ever recall seeing that before. Maybe you could lobby Rannie for that

Lots of guys here know FHL pretty well and would probably help you with good info on TA's for your A24. I have only hunted it a couple of times and was in the walk in primitive areas, 29 and 30 I think. I was hunting turkeys and never saw any deer other than a couple of does but I bet they are in there.

Wow what an awesome service! Rannie you're doing great things. I know I've been out of the loop for a while and you've probably been posting here for quite some time, but just wanted to say Great Idea! Have fun y'all. I miss hunter liggett. Mosul looks nothing like it. LoL...
